Judy Hansen Obituary

Judy Hansen, a lifelong adventurer, devoted mother, and woman of faith, passed away on January 11th, 2026 at the age of 79 after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Born on March 15th 1946 in Hawthorne, California, to Spencer and Helen Hall, Judy’s life was marked by her adventurous spirit, dedication to her family, and time spent serving in her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Judy’s journey of faith was solidified during a formative semester at the Church College of Hawaii, an experience she credited with teaching her to live the Gospel with personal conviction. Shortly after returning, she met John Hansen at a Sunday devotional. The pair were engaged within a month and married on January 7, 1967, in the Los Angeles Temple.

A woman of immense resilience, Judy worked various jobs—from cleaning houses to installing gold wiring in computer circuits—while supporting her husband through school in Provo, Utah. Upon returning to California, she welcomed four children in just six years: April, John, Celeste, and Summer. She was a mother who led by doing, teaching her children to hike, bike, swim, and find God in the beauty of nature.

Judy’s favorite callings in the Church were all related to music.  She carried a brass keychain around for years that said “I Love Primary”.  She loved teaching children how to sing.  She loved being with the children at church and watching them learn and grow up.  She also spent many years serving in the LDS Temple as a temple worker with her husband until her health prevented her from continuing this role.

Professionally, Judy worked as a swimming teacher, customer service rep for a cargo airlines, and as a health aid at the grade school where many of her children went to school. She is probably best known as the Human Resources Director for Paradise Oaks Youth Services where she worked for many years and from where she eventually retired from formal work.

She is survived by her husband, John; her brother, Spencer; her four children, April, John, Celeste and Summer; her 14 grandchildren; and her 3 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Spencer and Helen Hall.

A funeral service honoring Judy’s life will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 1155 Liberty Ln, Lincoln, CA 95648 on Monday January 19th.  There will be a viewing at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.  Light refreshments will be served afterwards.
