June Lorraine Moriarty Obituary
June Lorraine Moriarty, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2024 in Citrus Heights, California at age 95. Judy (as she preferred to be called) was born in St. Louis, Missouri, moved to Jackson, Michigan as a youngster, and graduated from Jackson High School. She moved to California in 1974.
Judy collected angels, had a great sense of humor and loved to sing. She was known to break into song at a moment’s notice, when raising her six children, when something would remind her of a tune. Even as her memory began to fade, she still remembered the stanza and verse to hundreds of popular songs and hymns. She played clarinet in high school and piano throughout her life.
She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Citrus Heights, and participated in Bible study and volunteer activities. Her Christian faith was very important to her.
Judy was proceeded in death by her husband, William Moriarty, her mother, Betty Miller, her stepfather, Paul Miller, her aunt and uncle, Lorraine and William Sims, her grandmother, Stella Blanche Ramsey and two grand daughters, Leslie Corinne Hansen and Angel Baby Scheib.
Being a mother, raising her six children and being known as “Granny” were her greatest joys in life. She is survived by her children, Cynthia Lee Hansen (Lorenz), Dean Willard Bennett (Cindy), Kathleen Ruth Lane (Harold), Lorraine Alice Naumann (Carl), Timothy Neil Bennett (Cherie) and Elayne Dona Bennett-Scheib. In addition, Judy has 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren that will always remember their sweet Granny.
Services for Judy will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church, 7607 Garden Gate Dr., Citrus Heights, CA on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at 10:30 am. Price Funeral Chapel (916-725-2109), directors.
