Our beloved mother passed away peacefully at her home in Citrus Heights, CA on December 17, 2022.  She was 88 years old.  Kaoru Kay Austin, known to her grandchildren as "BaBa", was born in Fukuoka, Japan on November 6, 1934.  At the age of 10, she was raised by her grandmother after her mother died from injuries sustained from the war.  She met and married our father, Josephus Austin, in 1964 in Tokyo, Japan where he was stationed at the Tachikawa Air Base. They were married for 51 years until dad passed away in 2016.  Kaoru worked in the cafeteria at McClellan AFB for many years until she retired in 1997.  She loved cooking for her family and having get-together potlucks with her many friends.  She also enjoyed traveling and camping with her family in her motorhome and trailer.  She was the heart and soul of our family, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.  She is survived by her three children, Raymond Austin, Dorene Clifford, and Carmela Austin, and her three grandchildren, Jennifer, Makenna, and Macy.  A memorial/celebration of life will be held at Raymond’s home on February 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM.
