LaVerne Francis Graham

Laverne Francis Graham, a long time resident of Sacramento, California, was called home by our Heavenly Father on Friday, November 3, 2023. Laverne passed away peacefully, at the age of 92, from natural causes into the arms of God, surrounded by his family in Citrus Heights, California.
Laverne was born on November 15, 1930, in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, to Elmer and Rose (McBride) Graham. Laverne accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was a memb r of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
 
LaVerne and his parents relocated to Grass Valley, California when he was six years old. He attended school in Grass Valley, graduating from Nevada Union High School. Afta­ graduation, Laverne joined the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He was very proud to serve his country.

Laverne, fondly referred to as "Vern", met and married the love of his life Raelynn Anderson on September 8, 1956. Together they raised three children, while he was employed at the Sacramento Army Depot. He retired from his successful career at the Depot after forty years of service.

Vern was a true gentleman, with many friends and family, he loved to hunt and camp in his earlier years, loved to travel and spend time outdoors. He shared stories of his Army days, camping trips to Bodega Bay, and family trips to Fort Bragg. He was an avid storyteller, enjoyed sewing, reading, watching Jeopardy, and of course mealtime was a favorite activity. Above all he was dedicated to his family and taught them to be respectful, honest, and to love the Lord. He guided them by being a respectful Christian example, a devoted husband and father.

Laverne was preceded in death by his loving companion Raelynn, his parents Elmer and Rose, a brother Clarence Graham, and a grandson Jason Smart. He leaves to cherish his memory the following family members: Brother Walter Patterson (Ann); Daughter Terry Graham Kardos; Son Eric Graham (Vicky); Daughter Anderia Miller (Robert); Grandsons Christopher Jackson (Kat Hester); Peter Jackson; Robert W. Miller (Ashley); Granddaughters Stephanie Joyner (Grant); Emily Gorsuch (Bryce); Elizabeth Smart (Jason); Kathryn Kaupanger (Jamesson); Emilia Coffman (Robert); Great-Grandsons Devon Jackson; Hutson Joyner; Cooper Joyner; Jace Gorsuch, Kaden Gorsuch; Owen Smart; Lucas Miller; Ezra Kaupenger; Levi Coffman; Oliver Coffman; Great­Granddaughters Willa Jackson; Amelia Jackson; Kennedy Joyner; Tessa Gorsuch; Isabelle Gorsuch; Hannah Kishchenko (Vitaliy); Madalynne Smart; Leah Smart; Jillian Miller; Olivia Miller; Clara Kaupanger; Sophie Coffman; Guinevere Coffman; Great-Great Granddaughters Maxine Kishchenko and Melanie Kishchenko.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in his honor, Friday, November 10, 2023, at Price Funeral Chapel, 6335 Sunrise Blvd., Citrus Heights, California, 95610. Viewing is scheduled at 9:00 a.m., followed by services at 10:00 a.m. The family is thankful to Carlton Senior Living Orangevale for their love, care and friendship.
