Leah Jane Richardson was born on June 25, 1934 to Florence Helen Van Order and Joseph William Richardson (Jack), In Fort Stockton, Texas. She was the middle child of three: Jack Jr. (deceased) and Doris Ann. When Leah was 3 the family moved to El Paso where she went to St. Joseph’s School through 8th grade. Her family then moved to San Antonio where Leah went to Ursuline Academy for high school, graduating in 1952. Leah graduated from Incarnate Word College with a BA in English in 1956. She was a leader in both high school and college. She was class officer each year in high school, belonged to the Latin club and was President of the Spanish club. She was student body president her senior year in college. She was also quite the athlete playing basketball in high school and college. Leah met her husband Bob when she was a senior in college at a Catholic Young Adults Club at Our Lady of Grace parish in San Antonio and they married September 8, 1957. Once married they moved to Seattle. Leah and Bob adopted their first child Mary Youngblood in 1958. Then came three more girls, Ann Edwards (Tom), Laurie Nemoede (Paul), and Carol Breslin (Tony). She has 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. After moving to Sacramento in 1973 Leah went back to school to earn her teaching credential. She was a beloved teacher and reading specialist. Leah was a devoted wife, mother, teacher and lay Salvatorian. She was loved by so many and had a sweet nature that she kept to the end. She will be greatly missed. Friends and family are invited to attend a Visitation on Friday, January 27, 2023 from 4pm - 6pm at Price Funeral Chapel (6335 Sunrise Blvd., Citrus Heights, CA), with her Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 10:30am at Divine Savior Catholic Church (9079 Greenback Lane, Orangevale, CA).
