Leon Chapman Obituary

Leon (Lonnie) Wayne Chapman quietly passed through the gates of Paradise on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at Sutter General Hospital, Roseville, California with his mother by his side.

He was born on May 19, 1952 in Hazen, North Dakota the son of Larry Ray Chapman and Arlene Irene (Mueller) Chapman. The oldest of 4 children. He was baptized on June 9, 1952 by Rev. G. H Fiechtner in Krem, North Dakota and confirmed on April 3, 1966 at Faith Lutheran Church, Fair Oaks, California by Rev. Orval Oswald.

Lonnie and his family moved to California in 1955. He attended kindergarten at John Barrett School, in Carmichael, California, completed his elementary education at Faith Lutheran School, Fair Oaks, California, and graduated from Del Campo High School, Carmichael, California on June 04, 1970. He was an excellent athlete and participated in basketball and football throughout his elementary and high school years. After graduation he was employed in the cabinet making industry as a carpenter, holding both leadman and a foreman position at Woodcraft Cabinets. The adventurous side of Lonnie lead him to Battle Mountain, Nevada where he was worked in the gold mining industry, un-fortunately he never did find a big nugget. He ended his working career as a warehouse man at Huttig Building Products, Sacramento, California.

In his leisure time, Lonnie loved riding his motorcycle both for pleasure and as a member of the Sundowner Club, traveling throughout the United States. He especially enjoyed the summers spent with his Aunt Irma and Grandpa Mueller on the farm in North Dakota.

Lonnie leaves to mourn his death: his mother Arlene Chapman, Citrus Heights, California, Sister Candace (Kevin) Peck, Ewa Beach, Hawaii, Brothers: Steven (Sherry) Chapman Janesville, California, and Randy (Imelda) Chapman Folsom, California. Nephews: Brian Christie, Alan (Martinana) Christie, Johnathan Chapman and Brandon Bevis. Nieces: Carmen (Eric) Berry and Katrina (Justin) Garn. Five great nephews, two great nieces, many cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Larry, his grandparents, Herman and Jacobina (Richter) Mueller and Raymond and Edith (Wolcott) Chapman.
