Leonard Duclos Obituary

Leonard Duclos, lifelong resident of Sacramento, lived his entire life among family and friends who will remember him for his quick wit, his steady presence and quiet strength and his amazing sense of humor.

Born in a family of 16 kids, Leonard, the 14th born is survived by his loving partner of 29 years, Grace, his older sisters: Terri, Rita, Mary, Marcella, Maggie and Yvonne as well as his older brothers: Ray, Leo and Alan and his younger brother Tom.

Leonard attended St. Francis School and Sutter Jr. High, then Sacramento High School before enlisting in the US Army in 1967. After his ‘Tour of Duty’ and honorable discharge in 1970, he completed the Apprenticeship in the Carpenters Union. During his tenure as  a Union Carpenter one of his more challenging projects was to install the Oak picture frame wainscoting on the lower 3ft of walls in the first and second floors of the Rotunda of the California State Capitol Building as a part of the renovations in the late 1970’s where his work remains on display still today.

Leonard went on to become a Building Inspector and Plans Examiner for first the County of, then the City of Sacramento where his professional demeanor and attention to detail was appreciated by his peers and supervisors well beyond his retirement in 2021.

He was always available whenever his family and friends needed a helping hand.  Leonard was a special brother to all of us siblings and we will miss him greatly. We cherish the memory of his kindness and loyalty. Rest in peace, our brother!

Final services and interment will be private.
