Maria Kosan

Maria (Babi) Kosan of Roseville, CA, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, surrounded by the comfort of her home. Born February 9, 1951, in Czechoslovakia, Maria immigrated to the United States in the late 1980s alongside her loving husband and young daughter, and later welcomed a second daughter after settling in America. She built a life rich with warmth, faith, and purpose — working as a Veterinary Pathologist Assistant at UC Davis before retiring to dedicate herself fully to her greatest joy: her family. Maria was a devoted Catholic whose faith guided her daily life. She found happiness in her garden, in the pages of a good book, and in the water — often swimming with a joy and determination that inspired everyone around her. Above all, she loved deeply and selflessly, always putting others before herself and leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was married for over 40 years to her beloved husband, Jerry Jaroslav Kosan, who preceded her in death in 2017. She is survived by her daughters, Maria Diana and Eva; her grandchildren, Sophia and Braxton; and her cherished puppy, Poppy. Maria will be profoundly missed. Her laughter, her grace, and her generous spirit were gifts to all who knew her. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 27, at 10:30am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Citrus Heights, followed by burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
