Marie Rowberry Johnson

Marie Rowberry Johnson was born on March 5, 1932 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Arthur Leroy Rowberry and Violet Klossner. She passed away on April 27, 2020 in Hurricane, Utah at the age of 88.

Marie was married to her sweetheart, Arnold Alfred Johnson on September 1, 1951, and was sealed to him in the Idaho Falls Temple on February 11, 1955. They were married for 68 wonderful years, with Arnold passing before her last year in June of 2019.

She is survived by four children Mark Arnold Johnson, Cynthia Eileen Poppe, Grant Phillip Johnson, and Bryce Andrew Johnson. She was greatly blessed to be a Grandmother of 28, and a Great Grandmother of 63. She was dedicated to all her family members, and prayed for each of them by name every night.

She is the youngest of her siblings, Arthur Lorayne Rowberry, Elmo K Rowberry, Norma V Kennedy, LaFern Wilde, Lela Street, Monte Hubert Rowberry, and Morris LaDell Rowberry; all passing before her.

Marie is fondly remembered for her talent of a beautiful soprano voice. She was privileged to sing solos in church, school, city and state productions; she received two college scholarships for her music at Moscow University of Idaho. She directed numerous choirs, and produced a Tri-Stake musical in Carmichael, California.

Marie was such a great influence to those around her, and was dedicated in her service to the community and church. She found joy throughout her life in her service to the Lord; as a Chorister, Organist, Choir Director, Young Women’s President, Primary President, ward and stake Relief Society President, Seminary teacher, Gospel Doctrine teacher, Relief Society teacher, temple ordinance worker, temple shift trainer, temple shift coordinator, and Patriarch scribe to her husband.

Pain and illness can test the best of us, but Marie has fought a good fight, has finished her course, and has kept her faith. Throughout her life she found strength and meaning in this passage, “Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not. For the Lord will overrule all thy tribulations, trials, and testings of life; for thy good and glorification.”
