Marvin Keith Gardner

Marvin “Keith” Gardner was born August 11,1956 in Yuma, Arizona. He passed away while in the hospital with his sweet Wife by his side on June 28th, 2023 in Roseville, California following a series of health struggles. He was 66 years of age.

Keith is the 9th and youngest child of Thomas Harvey Gardner and Verda Marie Stuart. He is survived by his brother Alan Gardner and his wife Martha, Kay Morrison, Joan Hayward, Frances Winder, Rick Gardner and his wife Robin, Judy Stacy, Jay Gardner and his wife Rachel as well as many Nieces and Nephews.

He is preceded in death by his Parents, brother Marshall Gardner, sister-in-laws Jane Gardner, and Debbie Gardner. As well as brother-in-laws Ike Morrison, Glen Sohm, Richard Hayward, Alan Winder, and Ken Stacy.

Keith enjoyed a memorable childhood. He often shared his wonderful memories through telling cherished stories. During his childhood he began to develop his curiosity and love of life and having fun. His high school years were well rounded. He enjoyed various activities that helped develop his many talents, which included, athletics, ceramics, and singing. He was blessed with a beautiful tenor singing voice and became a member of the Royalairs singing group at Kofa High School. He went on to serve an honorable mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Keith spent two years serving a mission in Central America. It is safe to say he enjoyed every minute of his mission, which he shared life long memories of. He even made the best of cold showers for two years. During this time, he continued to develop a fervent testimony in his Savior Jesus Christ.

In the next chapter of Keith’s life he attended Brigham Young University for a short time. While there he loved the dating life! He enjoyed skiing and had a vibrant social life. This is when he began a lifetime love for BYU sports. During Keith’s second semester he discovered a new interest in a young lady from his previous semester, Daryl Ann Schneider from Santa Barbara, California. The interest was mutual and a true love story began to develop. The two were married on June 8,1979 for Time and All Eternity in the Los Angeles California Temple. Keith and Daryl celebrated their 44th Wedding Anniversary while in the hospital just one day shy of three weeks before his passing. It wasn’t long before their little family began to grow. He is survived by his five handsome Sons, Jared, Joseph, Neil, Scott, and Jonathan Gardner as well as one beautiful Daughter Sada Scott. He also is survived by eight wonderful Grandchildren and two daughter-in-laws, Lacey and Megan Gardner and one son-in-law Ryan Scott. These true blessings from Heavenly Father have brought endless joy and happiness to him through the years.

The start of his health trials began in 1981. As a result of that first health trial, an interest in the Nursing profession began. In 1990 he began a five year endeavor to earn his Associate Degree in Registered Nursing. He attended Sierra College in Rocklin California, graduating in 1995 at the age of 39. He went on to become a Pediatric Critical Care ICU Nurse at the former Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento California. He then moved on to be a Critical Care Transport Nurse for First Responders for 4 years. Following that he went on to be a Nurse for the state of California Prison System where he worked for 11 years until his retirement in 2020.

Throughout his adult life, although faced with several health struggles he enjoyed life thoroughly. Never complained once, or asked why me? He lived a great life and developed into a true man of honor. He has a fervent testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He knew he wasn’t in charge and faced his future with faith and hope in the Lord’s plan for his life. Keith is loved beyond measure by his Wife, Children and Grandchildren. We know that when the time comes we will all be together forever.
