Mary Jane Coyne

Mary Jane Coyne, 81 years old, lost her battle against lung disease on July 22, 2025.

Mary was born on May 21, 1944 in Pueblo, Colorado. Born to Robert & Ruth Martinez. She was the last of the Martinez Family and will be joining her sister, Dorothy, and brothers, Roy, Bobby, Leonard, Freddy, and Jerry. Born into a life of hardship and poverty; she remained steadfast in her faith and determination. She emerged from her challenging upbringing which helped her to be the resilient, compassionate, strong person she was with an unwavering love for her family. 

Survived by her husband, John Anthony Coyne and son, John “Hito” Michael Coyne and wife Beverly “Bev”.  Her grandchildren Cortland “Corti” Coyne (deceased), Leticia“Tish” and Sky Valenzuela, Andrew “Drew” Coyne and Victoria“Vic” Coyne. Great Grandchildren, Ezekiel “EZ” Valenzuela and a new great grandson expected in September 2025. As well as an abundance of cousins, nieces and nephews; in addition to many friends old and dear.

Mary loved her family, traveling, shopping and decorating a home.

She was loved dearly by her husband of 58 years. One of their favorite past times was traveling the world together. They traveled often by their selves, with siblings, neighbors and even a road-trip with the grandchildren, (the stories we could tell).  Naturally, a trip meant she needed to shop for key travel items.But that wasn’t her only reason to shop. She just enjoyed it and shopping she did. Whether it was bringing home items from her trips, buying things for her grandkids, dogs or for the house; she loved to shop. She was known to out shop anyone. Which naturally led to her love of painting and redecorating a room.  

She expressed a special kind of vibrant and feisty spirit. She always made sure her husband and son were taken care of in all facets of life. As the family grew, she was extremely proud of her grandchildren. She helped in teaching them simple things in life like ironing and cleaning; but most importantly living confidently and proudly which helped in shaping their personalities of who they are today.  She took pride in herself and her family. She supported her family by listening to them and giving advice.  Mary was a confident and cool grandma with a young mindset, whom often expressed she was not old. Once active in Zumba, Tai Chi, Pilates, swim aerobics and walking. She took pride in staying fit.

Mary had great love for her furry friends, treating each and every one like a family member. 

Mary worked as an EKG Tech for Mercy San Juan Hospital for over twenty years.

She was an excellent cook and baker, known best for her lasagna that was only made once a year on Christmas Day.

She valued the importance of family gatherings and togetherness. She insisted knew what was going on with her family at all times. She will be missed by her cousins, nieces, nephews, Godchildren and many friends. Her family finds peace in knowing that she is watching over them from Heaven.

Friends and family are invited to attend her Memorial Service on Friday, August 8, 2025 at 10am at Price Funeral Chapel (6335 Sunrise Blvd., Citrus Heights, CA 95610).

Please feel free to dress in color to honor and celebrate Mary’s life; traditional muted colors are accepted as well.
