Mary Virginia Garner Staker was born April 26, 1941 to Henry and Ruth Garner in Driggs, ID. Mary passed away on January 19, 2021 in Rocklin, CA. She is survived by her loving husband Fredrick Staker; children Jessica Hackwell (Doug), Julia Fardos (Edward) and Jennifer Pointer (Travis); 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her son James Staker (Darla).
Mary grew up in a small town where she was raised by loving parents in a home with her siblings. She was active in many school auxiliaries including sports, the arts, Pep Club and journalism. She left Driggs and began working in Idaho Falls where she met her husband Fred. After marrying and completing school, they moved to Salt Lake City and started their family. Following work opportunities, Mary and Fred moved to San Jose, CA where they lived for 30 years. Mary worked as an Administrative Assistant in the Elementary School system and at Hewlett-Packard. They moved to Roseville, CA in 2001 where Mary retired and dedicated her time to her grandchildren and served in various positions in her church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Mary, an angel of service, was loved by all who knew her. She exemplified Christlike attributes as she lived each day.
A Memorial Service (limited to 10 people due to Covid-19 governmental restrictions) is scheduled on Monday, February 1, 2021 at 10am at Price Funeral Chapel (916-725-2109), which will be live streamed starting at 9:45am and can be accessed through the Price Funeral Chapel website at https://www.pricefuneralchapel.com. Interment following at Newcastle Cemetery where she will be buried next to her son.
