Myong Kum Saldivar

Myong K. (Mun) Saldivar, age 90, passed away August 15, 2025, peacefully at home surrounded by her family.  Myong was born April 1, 1935 in Taegu, South Korea to Song Ho Mun and Pu Tuk Na.  Myong and her family were survivors of the Korean War.  After the Korean War, Myong started working for the Army Air Force Exchange in1962 at Osan Air Force Base until her retirement in 1978.  After retirement she owned three businesses in addition to real estate rentals.  In 1982, Myong moved to the United States to live with her daughter and care for her grandchildren. 
 
In 1987, Myong finally found a lifelong friend and married the love of her life Alfredo P. Saldivar in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Myong became a military wife and followed Fred during the next 18 years during his military career in the Air Force.  

Fred retired in 2005 from the Air Force and they started their retirement life while living in Sacramento, California.  Myong spent all her time managing the household while Fred began his civilian career for the next 15 years. Myong’s joy was spent babysitting her grandkids as they were growing up and playing with her great grandchildren Aiden and Layla.  Myong enjoyed watching Korean dramas, fine dining and attending church.  Her family was her greatest joy and crowning achievement in this life. 

Myong is preceded in death by her father Song Ho Mun and her mother Pu Tuk Na, younger sister Chang Kum Mun of Songtan, South Korea and her younger brother, Kuk Po Mun of Seoul, South Korea.  Myong is survived by her husband of 38 years Dr. Alfredo P. Saldivar, daughters Miae (Louis) Ortiz of Vacaville, CA and Tonia Boyd of Los Angles, CA.   Grandchildren Louis Ortiz Jr. of Vacaville, CA and Latasha (Corey) Stickland of West Sacramento, CA and great grandchildren Aiden and Layla Strickland.  Myong is also survived by her fur baby bichon, Abby Saldivar.

The family would like to thank UC Davis Hospice for their outstanding service and care during this difficult time and her doctors who cared for her throughout the years. Many thanks to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for all their assistance during this time.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at 11am, with the Viewing commencing at 10am, all at Price Funeral Chapel (6335 Sunrise Blvd., Citrus Heights, CA 95610).  A private interment will take place at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery.
