Nancy Louise Dangberg (nee Hoskins) was born on June 9, 1932 in Alameda, CA, to Louise W. Heintze and Edwin C. Hoskins.
The family moved to Carmichael when Nancy was in 2nd grade at Carmichael Elementary. Nancy graduated from San Juan High School in 1949.
Nancy married William H. Dangberg in August 1950 at Faith Lutheran Church, F.O. They were blessed with 6 children: Paul (Cindy), John (Lori), Kim (deceased), Gail (David), Trina (David) and Lisa (Dave deceased). Grandmother of Aaron, Jennifer, Trevor, Heather (deceased), Ethan, Carson, Sabrina and Grant. Great Grandmother of 6 and Aunt of 16 nieces and nephews. Nancy was the sister of Walter (deceased) and Jane.
Nancy started her working career while in high school when she worked for the Vice Principal, one of her teachers, and the Rotary newsletter. She worked at Brownies Lunch Counter in Carmichael and Fletchers Drug Store, and later worked as Church secretary for Faith Lutheran Church. After marriage she worked at Aerojet, Washington Inventory Co and then Franchise Tax Board where she retired in 1997. Nancy also spent many years volunteering for Christian Hope Of the World (CHOW).
Nancy was one of the hardest working Moms with a houseful of children; and yet she made time to sew clothing, baked her own bread and cookies and cooked 3 meals a day along with loads and loads of laundry. This continued even as the kids grew and she returned to work.
Nancy had many talents and interests. She excelled at needlework, working hours on end creating beautiful works of art for family and friends and special items for herself. She also became interested in scrapbooking and card making. She found a group of likeminded ladies that met regularly to create special cards to send to family and friends.
Her love of music and jazz brought her to another group of friends and she faithfully attended weekly gatherings to enjoy the various bands.
Nancy also rekindled her friendship with her San Juan High School “49er” class mates and was attending regular luncheons.
Nancy was sweet, humble, hardworking and unassuming; traits that endeared her to many. She is loved. She is missed…
A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held Friday, June 22, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at Fair Oaks Cemetery, 7780 Olive Street, Fair Oaks, CA 95628. A reception will follow.
