It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Oghenekevwe (Kevwe) Vero Pela, who passed away on February 16, 2026, at the age of 62, at her home in Citrus Heights, California.

Kevwe was born on April 13, 1963, in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria, to the late Isaiah Sada Chamuene and Paulina Ogba Okpoho. She hailed from Owahwa Town in the Jeremi Clan, within the Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State. In 2004, she made Sacramento, California her home.

Kevwe pursued her education with dedication and graduated from Rivers State University of Science and Technology in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science degree.

She devoted more than 16 years of her life to working as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the healthcare field. Through her work, she provided compassionate care and support to countless individuals and families.

Kevwe is survived by her mother, Paulina Ogba Okpoho; her husband, Omar; her son, Onome; her sisters, Rita, Patience, Abigail, and Ufuoma; and her brothers, Frederick, Francis, Eric, Stephen, Israel, Solomon, David, and Joshua. She was preceded in death by her father, Late Pa. Rev. Isaiah Sada Chamuene.

She will be remembered for her deep commitment to her family, her strong work ethic, and her lifelong dedication to helping others.

Funeral Service Information

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Fair Oaks Cemetery, 7780 Olive Street, Fair Oaks, CA 95628. Family and friends are invited to attend in person or via Zoom.
