Patricia Ann Jones

On August 13, 2026, in Sacramento, California, Patricia Ann Jones, the only daughter of Albert Allen Jones and Floreine Fern Frederick, began her journey to the spirit world.

A lifelong resident of Sacramento, Patricia was a proud graduate of Grant Union High School, American River College, California State University, Sacramento, and pursued graduate studies at California State University, Humboldt.

Patricia found the love of her life in Creta Joy Rodas. Together they shared a life filled with love, companionship, and devotion. At Creta's funeral, Patricia expressed the depth of that love, saying, "I know i am in love when i see you. I know i long to see you." Their bond remained a guiding light throughout her life.

Patricia is survived by her siblings, Shelly Toutges, Joseph DuBray, Roger Hernandez, and a small army of nieces and nephews, all of whom were blessed by her love, guidance, humor, and unwavering presence.

Never one to shy away from a challenge, Patricia built a remarkable and diverse career throughout her life. Her professional roles included Director of a School for Indian children, Horizons Health and Sports, Nella Oil Company, and Vision Service plan.

A gifted athlete, Patricia was a four-sport intercollegiate competitor whose love of athletics extended well beyond her playing days. She played and coached competitive softball and later became a respected softball official. Her skill and dedication earned her assignments to officiate the National Championships, and in 1994 she was inducted into the National Indicator Fraternity, one of the highest honors bestowed upon USA Softball umpires.

Patricia was also an avid lover of film, actors, and directors. She was often described as john Wayne's unofficial biographer and counted Meryl Streep and Al Pacino among her favorite performers. Family members often joked that the Bridges of Madison County and The Godfather Part III had each been viewed more than a dozen times. Upon request, Patricia could famously recite entire scenes from Casablanca from memory.

A two-time breast cancer survivor, Patricia faced adversity with courage, grace, and an unwavering commitment to helping others. Inspired by the Breast Cancer Stamp, she created a cross-stitch pattern of its design. The first completed stamp was presented to Dr. E. Bodai, whose efforts helped bring the Breast Cancer Stamp to life. Over the course of 10 years, Patricia completed and gifted more than 60 cross-stitched stamps to fellow survivors as symbols of hope, strength, and victory over the disease.

In 2010, while undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments herself, Patricia completed eight stamps for fellow employees at Vision Center Plan. In recognition of her extraordinary generosity and commitment to others, she received Vison Service Plan's 2011 First Person Award. Among the recipients of her breast cancer stamps were Lynn Redgrave, Robin Roberts, Tina Machua, and Ethel Kessler, designer of the Breast Cancer Stamp.

True to her role as the eldest sister, Patricia delighted in introducing herself as the "older, smarter sister" to her younger sisters, Jacqueline and Andrea. It was a title she claimed with pride, humor, and affection, and one that perfectly reflected her spirited personality.

In keeping with Patricia's wishes, no memorial service will be held. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.

Patricia will be remembered for her courage, generosity, athletic spirit, quick wit, deep devotion to family, and her remarkable ability to inspire those around her. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and the love she shared so freely.
