Ralph H. Tucker was born in Columbia, South Carolina on July 25, 1951 to Charles and Betty Jo Tucker (Dreyer). He’s Survived by his loving wife Trudi, his children, Kevin and his wife Stephanie, Justin, Sherri, Wendi and her husband Joey, and Heather and her husband Bernie, along with his grandchildren Cassandra, Jon, Channelle and Grace. Ralph is also survived by his siblings Bart Tucker, Joyce Towers, Robert Tucker and Rhett Tucker. He and his siblings grew up at “Tuckaway” near Chapin, South Carolina.
Ralph graduated from Cordova High School in 1969 and subsequently graduated from Sacramento State University with a BA in Criminal Justice. Ralph’s love of learning was a life-long love affair. He was a voracious reader, a lover of history and all things mechanical.
Ralph was in the Coast Guard and Air Force reserves for 15 years and served as a load master. While serving in the military, he developed a love for airplanes, sailing, boating and had a priceless collection of War movies. Ralph would sight planes and their relative position in the sky, “there is a C-130 at 11’ O Clock.” His interest in airplanes extended to flying model planes. He loved being outdoors jogging, rafting, skiing, hiking, playing tennis and camping. Ralph and the family went camping all over California. His family recalls many great stories about encounters with bears. It was these family trips and stories that sparked his childrens’ interests of the great outdoors. After serving in the Coast Guard Reserves, he spent his time showing his children how to be safe on the water and how to drive a boat on Folsom Lake. Ralph loved to laugh and be with his family. He especially loved playing cards (O heck) and having dinner and game night with his competitive family.
Ralph is dearly missed by his family and friends and they will be celebrating his life with a rafting trip and picnic in his honor.
