Raymond LaFlam Obituary

CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA – Raymond Francis LaFlam, 73, of Citrus Heights, California formerly of Easthampton, died unexpectedly on August 21, 2018, in Citrus Heights.  Born in Northampton, Massachusetts, the second child of Valmore A. and Lucille M. (Billieux) LaFlam, Ray attended Easthampton schools prior to serving in the United States Navy as a black box operator on the VP-3 Orion aircraft.  Upon leaving the Navy, he married Easthampton girl Therese D. Dubois on October 2, 1971.  Ray went on to became an auditor for the US Air Force taking them to California where they had their first child, Thomas, in July 1972.  They quickly moved to New Jersey and had their next child, Jeffrey, in 1973.  Always the adventurer, Ray enlisted for an overseas assignment and moved the family to Germany for four years before returning to New York.  Missing the European lifestyle, he enlisted for a second term in Germany where their daughter, Alexandra, was born in 1982.  Returning stateside, Ray was assigned to Sacramento, California where he worked until he retired in 1999.  In 1992, Ray married Direnda Kenney adding five stepchildren to his family. Ray and Direnda remained married until she died in 2010.  In 2011, Ray married Jocelyn Anderson.  When Ray's mother passed in 2012, his father came to live in California.  Ray and his father thrived in retirement: golfing almost daily, playing with the grandchildren, researching his investments, and travelling.  Ray is survived by his two brothers: V. Barry (Barbara) LaFlam of Southampton and Ricky G. (Tina) LaFlam of Sunrise, Florida; his three children: Thomas A. (Beth) LaFlam, Jeffrey M. (Rachael) LaFlam, and Alexandra L. (Wade) LaFlam; step-father of Cameron Kenney (deceased), Direnda Kenney, Lisa (Jacob) Rhea, Elaina (Nikolas) Pipiillis, and Morgan (Betty) Kenney; five grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Friends and family are welcome for visitation on Sunday, September 2, 2018 from 5-6PM, with the funeral service commencing at 6PM all at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS (8056 Oak Ave., Citrus Heights, CA).  PRICE FUNERAL CHAPEL (916-725-2109), directors.
