Born February 26, 1944, in Gary, Indiana. Passed away April 1, 2023, in Roseville, California. His parents were Henry Stanley Serynek and Janina Rutka Serynek. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Henry Stanley Serynek, Jr. and sister, Carolyn Serynek. He is survived by his brother, Walter Serynek. He was previously married to Judith Jennings Davis; and on March 1, 1980, married Lucinda James Bacon having been blessed with 43 years of marriage. Richard and Judith had two sons, Richard Dale Serynek (Beverly) and Robert Dean Serynek (Marcia). Cherished grandfather to Robert Dean Serynek, Jr., Marinda Serynek, Nichol Helm-Logoteta, Amanda Serynek, Garrison Serynek, Landon Serynek and Benjamin Serynek. Adored great grandfather to Talon Helm-Logoteta, Kellen Helm-Logoteta, Wesley Helm-Logoteta, and Eric Torres. Richard was a steel roller with US Steel in Gary, Indiana prior to his motorcycle accident in 1971 which rendered him paraplegia. He was wheelchair bound for close to 52 years, but the wheelchair rarely held him back. He loved to travel; his best trip was to Namibia, Africa in 2006. Many other trips around the United States were taken with Lucinda. He loved to do woodworking as a hobby and was a jeweler for approximately 20 years making many beautiful projects for friends and family. He also loved gardening, collecting rocks and minerals, and seashells. His interests were many and varied. He was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for more than 49 years serving in many capacities making a difference in many lives.
