Rick Thompson, 61, passed away in his home surrounded by family on January 10th, 2024 after suffering from early-onset Alzheimer’s.

Rick met the love of his life, Julie during high school. They quickly became best friends and eventually married in 1983. Together they had two children, Ricky and Logan.

Rick accomplished everything he wanted in life. He joined the military where he was deployed in Turkey. He had a successful career, becoming the Vice President of an importing company amongst other managerial positions in logistics. He traveled the world, going to places like Greece, Thailand, and China. His proudest accomplishment, though was being a husband and father.

During his final years Rick dedicated his life to taking care of others. He spent everyday caring for his elderly fatherly-in-law. Prior to his death he had the wish to continue helping others after he passed by donating his brain for research purposes so that nobody in the future would have to suffer like he did from Alzheimer’s. His brain was donated to the Brain Support Network (https://www.brainsupportnetwork.org/) and sent to the Mayo Clinic to further Alzheimer’s research. Everyone that knew Rick is probably smiling thinking about him. He always made everybody laugh and feel comfortable. He was the most loving father, husband, and dog-father a family could ask for. Rick is survived by his wife, Julie, sons, Ricky and Logan, dog, Charlie, mother, Carol, sister, Shari, and father-in-law, Stan.
