Robert Olen Motley suddenly passed away on July 2, 2020 in Granite Bay, California. He is a native Sacramentan born on January 7, 1953. He attended local schools in North Highlands including Foothill High School, American River College and California State University, Sacramento. Bob loved the outdoors, hiking, wildlife and any game that involved a ball. He was an avid golfer and club champion at Granite Bay Golf Club. But Bob’s greatest achievement was his family. His devotion and love for his family ran deep and was always his top priority. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, supporting whatever they were doing.
Bob was always so vibrant and alive; he enjoyed life and found joy in everything and everyone. If you knew Bob, you loved him, and you knew he loved you right back! He was a friend to all and a mentor to many. He had a special gift of relating to others young and old, being present at all times and making them feel important through his listening heart. Bob loved to serve others from his friends to the homeless or even the person behind him in line getting a Polar Pop.
Bob was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and at the time of his passing, he was serving in the Bishopric of the Rocklin Stake Young Single Adult Ward.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Karen Motley; children Nikki Watson (Patrick), Scott Motley (Carrie), Christopher Motley (Lindsay), Amy Atherly (Michael), and Erica Smart (Ryan); 14 grandchildren; 4 siblings; and mother, Naomi.
