Robert "Big Bob" Oliver, February 8th 1943 - April 19th 2020, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many people who had the great opportunity to meet him. Whether you knew him for a few minutes, or built a lifelong friendship with him, no one ever forgot Big Bob's humor and kindness. He was a big man who had one of the biggest and kindest hearts; a man who welcomed anyone that came into contact with him. Loving father of Kathy, Tony, Darren and Teresa, and proud grandfather of Byron, Dallas, Nadya, Brock, and Maxwell. Although Big Bob was an only child, one would have never known by the many in laws, cousins, and friends that became his family. Big Bob will forever be remembered as the most loving and welcoming man among us.
Robert Oliver's most prideful achievement was marrying his wife Hazel Lynette Werts, who supported him, in all of his glory, for 54 years. She was also the devoted individual who supported him physically and emotionally during their last days together.
Robert had a lot of lifelong achievements, from being a star athlete at Highlands High School, playing baseball in the Major Leagues, and briefly working as a Santa Ana police officer.
Robert played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Kansas City Royals, California Angels, Baltimore Orioles, and the New York Yankees.
While he enjoyed his time in the Major Leagues, his most valued achievements were being a family man, teacher, and coach to the many people he had the opportunity to interact with. Robert made many lifelong friends, touched many lives and he will forever be remembered.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Hazel, sons Tony (Maria) Darren (Melissa), daughters Teresa (Rick), Kathy (Ken), and five grandkids.
