Ronald L. Waterman, Sr. 90, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2025, at a care facility in Antelope, California. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, remembered for his deep love for family, passion for hunting and fishing, and joy in serving others. To know him was to love him, and his easy smile left a lasting impression on those around him.
Ron was born on February 9, 1935, in Sacramento, California, to Urban and Alice Waterman. He was the third of seven children and grew up on a small farm in North Sacramento. He graduated from Grant High School and, in June 1954, married the love of his life, Doris Baldwin. While working as a janitor for the Rio Linda School District in the evenings, Ron pursued his education at American River College and CSU Sacramento, ultimately earning a Master’s Degree. He had a fulfilling career as an elementary school teacher and retired in 1995.
Throughout his life, Ron built many lifelong friendships, particularly through his career and his dedicated service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Doris; his sister, Wanda; his son, Ron (Lesley); his daughters, Kathy and Karen (Shad) Pulley; three grandsons; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Virginia and Bonnie; and his brothers, Urban, George, and Michael.
