Rosalie Engelsgaard Obituary

Rosalie Ann Engelsgaard (Pierce), 82, went to Glory on July 20, 2022, in Roseville, CA after a long illness. Born in Rice Lake, Wisconsin on May 4, 1940 to Robert E. and Eva J. Pierce, she was the youngest of 7 children; 2 sisters and 4 brothers, Eunice, Olive, Robert, James, Raymond and Harold.

In 1950 the family moved to Casper where “Rose" attended Natrona County High School. After the death of her mother when she was 15 years old, Rose left school and worked numerous jobs to help support the family and pay for her mothers funeral expenses. As a young woman Rose enjoyed dancing and chocolate with beer. Eventually, she moved to Rawlins, Wyoming and married William “Jack” B. Gibbins and they had 3 daughters; Cynthia Johanna, Lois Ann, and Patricia May. After their divorce, Rose became “Rosie” when she met and fell in love with Duane LeRoy Engelsgaard. Married on August 1,1965, Rosie and her new husband Duane moved to California with the three older girls to start their life together and add to the family: daughter Julie Marie, twin sons Erik Duane and Roger LeRoy.

Rosie created a loving home for her large family no matter where the family lived, even overseas on the island of Guam UST. She was an excellent cook and great homemaker, placing her husband and children above all but God. After years of being a stay at home mom and earning her GED, Rosie started working again as a grocery clerk during a Safeway strike at the Marina District store in San Francisco, CA once the family returned to CA and the boys were in preschool. Soon she was working at K-Mart in Petaluma, once again helping to support her family. Clock number #82 retired from K-Mart in Citrus Heights, CA after many years of service. She enjoyed arts and handicrafts, rosemal painting, shopping, and camping at Collins Lake north of Sacramento. She never lost her knack for good cooking though cooking for just two was challenging after so many years of feeding her large, extended family. She loved spending time with and caring for all.

Preceding her in death was her husband and true love Duane, her mother and father, her 4 brothers and 2 sisters. She is survived by her daughters; Cindy, Lois, Patty, and Julie, sons; Erik (Lydia) and Roger (Beth); brother-in-law Arley Engelsgaard; sisters-in-law Lorraine Engelsgaard and Evelith Kuecker; many nieces and nephews, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed and thought of often by all her family and friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 2nd 2022 from 2-3p at Price Funeral Chapel, 6335 Sunrise Blvd., Citrus Heights. Private graveside service will be Wednesday, August 3rd 2022 at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA where Rosie will be with her loving husband, Duane, once again.
