Sam passed away on February 2 at 99 years old shortly after testing positive with COVID 19. Sam was born January 4, 1922 in Buffalo, New York. Both his parents were born in different villages in the Sicilan highlands but met in southwestern New York State near Buffalo. His parents separated when he was 9 years old and his life became more difficult. His mother and siblings got by working on a farm in the summer. After graduating from Buffalo Technical High School, Sam and his older brother travelled around the country finally settling in Southern California. It took many years but Sam graduated from the University of the Redwoods with a BS in engineering. He worked for several companies in the aerospace industry ending his career at AeroJet. Sam and his wife, Imogene were among the first residents of the new Powell development at Gold River They lived there until Imogene passed away in 2016 after 51 years of marriage. Sam moved to Eskaton in Gold River making many new friends with his wonderful stories and always had a song to sing.
