Sandra (Sandy) Kay (Vinum) Elsemore of Anderson, CA passed away February 15, 2023, at the age of 79 years old. Sandy was born June 12, 1943, in Eureka CA and spent her school-age years in Central Valley/Buckeye (now Shasta Lake CA). In 1960 she met the love of her life, Dan Elsemore; they married and settled in Anderson, CA (with a 5-year residence in Arcata, CA) and went on to have two amazing children, Loreen (Lori) Wilkinson and Robert (Rob) Elsemore. Sandy attended classes at Shasta College and was hired at the California Highway Patrol as an office technician. She thrived at the CHP for 29 years, retiring in 2000 as the Redding CHP Senior Stenographer. Sandy and Dan enjoyed going on many cruises, travelling to watch their favorite basketball teams and the World of Outlaw sprint car races. Sandy was an avid 49-er fan and seldom missed a game.
In retirement, Sandy volunteered on the Shasta County Grand Jury, provided tax services to seniors through AARP, and provided voter support at the polls. Sandy’s greatest joy was the birth of her “Angels,” Jameson and Jackson Elsemore. Spending time and watching them grow up was one of her greatest pleasures. Sandy was extremely strong-willed which served her well when she was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2005. In her final years, Sandy’s health declined due to kidney disease but, until the last month of her life, she continued to live independently in her home of over 60 years in Anderson.
Sandy was preceded in death by both her parents, Curt and Eda Vinum, as well as her husband, Dan (2015) and her daughter, Lori (2020). Sandy is survived by her son Rob (Shannon), her grandsons Jameson and Jackson, and her son-in-law, Bob Wilkinson (Lori). She is also survived by her sister Bonnie Lucier, her brother Allan Vinum and her cousin Lois Hadley.
Sandy’s fierce determination is her legacy that will live on through her son and grandchildren. She will be forever missed.
