Sandra Metzer Obituary

Sandra Ann Metzer (Sandi) of Citrus Heights, California passed away on August 6, 2021.

Sandi was born in Bryan, Texas on June 21, 1948. She moved with her family in 1951 to Yakima, Washington and attended public schools in Yakima and the Naches area, graduating from Naches High School in 1966.

Following high school, Sandi began working for MetLife insurance company until her retirement in 2001. Sandi moved all over the country during her career with MetLife, including stops in Yakima, Washington, Medford, Eugene, and Salem, Oregon, Johnstown, Pennsylvania, New York City, New York, San Francisco and Irvine, California, Tampa, Florida, and Denver, Colorado.

Sandi had a long and remarkable career at MetLife. Starting as a clerk, she worked her way up the corporate ladder step by step, often putting in 10–12-hour days. She ended up as director of one of MetLife’s largest financial centers in Denver.

Sandi had deep spiritual beliefs and attended The Metaphysical Academy in Tampa where she received certification as a Metaphysical Minister. She officiated at several family weddings. She was active in the Unity Church at various places and was President of the Church Board at the Unity Church of Littleton, Colorado.

Sandi enjoyed traveling, especially road trips with her parents, reading, and gardening. The holidays were always a special time for Sandi and she looked forward to decorating the house and hosting parties for friends.

Sandi loved animals, in particular, the little toy dogs (poodles, Maltese, and yorkies) that became her “animal children” in this lifetime and were her pride and joy.

Sandi was preceded in death by her parents, Erwin Metzer and Mabel Metzer (Heid) of Yakima, Washington, and is survived by her brothers Dennis Metzer (Lynette) of Longs, South Carolina and Laren Metzer (Teena) of Citrus Heights, California, and her sister Carolyn Cuillier (Steve) of Naches, Washington.
