Obituary

Semisi Ikani Makameone Latu Palu, also known as Lisiate loto’ilaione, son of Toakase Alisi Piuela Latu and Tevita Silifou Palu was born June 3, 1952 in Ha’afeva, Ha’apai, Tonga. He passed at the young age of 69 years old.

Ikani was active all of his life. He played for Tonga’s national rugby team as a wing. He played soccer for Tonga as a forward as well. Ikani loved billiards and would often be found in the pool hall. Professionally, Ikani served the people of Tonga on the police force. Ikani was also self-employed for a portion of his life and worked construction and other manual labor. Ikani was very involved in religion. He served on the High Council as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He also served as a primary teacher, a counselor in the bishopric in Tonga and a temple ordinance worker in Salt Lake City and Sacramento. Ikani’s testimony was important to him. He studied scripture and the words of the prophets at every opportunity.

Ikani loved his family more than anything. He is survived by his wife Anaseini Siniva Palu, and his children Gino Brandt Palu, Manu Batson Palu, Siosina Alisi Piuela Lesieli Folau Talakai, Taniela Vailea Semisi Ikani Palu, Nathan Eldon Palu, Akanesi Pilisita Palu Tupou and Priscilla Rachel Price. He is also survived by his two sisters, Siosina Greguhn and Alapeta Faletau.
