Sharon Juanita Jackson passed away on January 8th, 2025 in Carmichael, CA. Her cremation is being carried out by Price Funeral Home in Citrus Heights, but there are no services scheduled at this point. Sharon was born to Beatrice “Del” Wright on September 21, 1938 in OK where her family were sharecroppers, following the crops. She was raised by her mother and H. E. Melin. Her parents settled in the East Bay area where she graduated from San Lorenzo High School in 1956. She married John George in 1956—they lived in CA, LA and TX during their marriage. They had four children: Terri Harris, Tami Dyer, Tim George and Tobin George.
Sharon was well educated and very proud of her two Master’s Degrees. Early on, she was a homemaker and a public school teacher. In later years, she was the Executive Director of the Mental Health Association First for Abilene, TX and then San Francisco, CA. She worked for Ted Turner for many years before owning and operating her own consulting business. She served on the Marin General Hospital Board for many years before actually being employed by the hospital. She also served for many years on the Marin Women’s Commission and the Whistlestop Board (now Vivalon) in Marin County. She loved Marin County and she loved living there, but in later years moved to the Sacramento, CA area to live closer to her youngest son and his family. Sharon was a great lover of art and all things whimsical. She volunteered for years at Artisans art gallery and the Fall Arts Festival in Mill Valley. Sharon’s faith was very important to her, throughout her life she belonged to a variety of churches serving in various capacities.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Dale Melin. She is survived by her sister, Jackie Mistry of Berkeley, CA and her children: Terri Harris (Samuel) of Eastland, TX, Tami Dyer (Eddie) of Austin, TX, Tim George of Eastland, TX and Tobin George (Lori) of Citrus Heights, CA and her grandchildren: Amy Sloan (Bryan) of Aledo, TX, Curtis Harris (Jenna) of Lipan TX, Alea George of Pasadena, CA, Larkin George (Noel Hulse) of Fair Oaks, CA and Rowan George of Citrus Heights, CA and seven great-grandchildren.
