Sharon Loretta (Anderson) Marks died on Saturday 15 January 2022 from heart disease at her Orangevale, CA home surrounded by family. She is the widow of George D. Marks, Sr. to whom she was married for 66 years. Her family is grateful to the tender care by caregivers and medical staff during the last 20 years. She was loved by many relatives and friends whom she loved dearly. Sharon is survived by her son G. David Marks, Jr., daughter Roxana Mae (Marks) Rhodes, son-in-law, Thomas C. Rhodes, and maternal cousin Owren Sarratt, all of whom live in Sacramento, County, CA. Her granddaughter, Sarika Rao, resides in Corvallis, OR and grandson, Nandan Rao, lives in Barcelona, Spain. Survivors: sister-in-law, Mildred (Marks) Lombardo, N.C., numerous nieces and nephews in P.A. and east coast, and cousins in the west. Sharon was born in Oakland, Alameda, CA on Feb 23, 1932 to Leo Martin Anderson and Esther Laura Arndt, their only child. After their divorce, she spent most of her youth with her beloved foster mother Mae Deetles Gifford in Oakland. Her parents visited her at times and Sharon lived with Esther 1942-44. She spent her last two years of high school with her cousin, Frances Anderson Dwyer, working as a seamstress in San Francisco. Sharon met George at a folk dance, dated, and soon afterwards married in Oakland, March 24, 1950 at the Gifford home. The family lived in the Bay area, North Hollywood, and Orangevale, CA. Sharon loved to garden, crochet, read, write stories, needlepoint, and do volunteer work at Casa Roble H.S. and at the church. The family spent their time camping, swimming, folk dancing, and at family reunions. Sharon and George were baptized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 2004. Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 1pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (8056 Oak Ave., Citrus Heights, CA), with a viewing commencing at 12pm.
