Steven Wight Obituary

In the early morning hours of January 30, 2026, Steven Thomas Wight passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. He was 57 years old.

Born and raised in Sacramento, Steve attended Pony Express Elementary, Sam Brannan Middle School, and graduated from Christian Brothers High School in 1986. After high school, he worked at Tower Video and bartended at Laughs Unlimited before traveling the country installing cable for his uncle’s company.

Steve discovered a passion for art and graphic design while attending Sacramento State and went on to graduate from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco in 1995. He began his career in marketing and graphic design creating logos, monograms and marketing materials for various clients. In 2007, he joined Apple as a Tech Support Specialist during the launch of the iPhone. Over his 17 years there, he formed formed many lasting friendships.

In 2001, Steve met Michelle Tarpin. They married in 2002 and welcomed two daughters, Madison and Mollie, who were the greatest joys of his life. They were married for 23 years and remained close friends for the remainder of his life.

In 2018, he connected with his biological family and formed a special bond with sister, Stephanie Drefs and his two brothers, Darrell and Michael Wright. Through them, he was able to meet many extended relatives, including his cherished nieces & nephews.

In 2025, he met his partner, Laurel Cima, and they enjoyed a close relationship until the end of his life.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Madison and Mollie Wight; his father, Thomas Wight; his brothers, Douglas (Kari) Wight, Darrell (Patty) Wright and Michael (Deanne) Wright; and his sisters, Kathy (Colin) Monks, and Stephanie (Barry) Drefs; his former wife, Michelle Wight; his partner, Laurel Cima, his dear friend, Nafsheen Luhar; his mother-in-law, Nanci Montross; and his brothers-in law, Doug, AJ (Hilary) and Ben Tarpin. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joanne Wight.

A Celebration of Life will be held May 9, 2026, from 3:00pm - 7:00pm at the Roseville Veterans Memorial Hall at 110 Park Drive, Roseville, CA. Parking is available on Oak Street across from the short walking bridge. Street parking may be available on Park Drive.
