Sylvia Bateau

Our beloved Sylvia Bateau died peacefully at her home on January 31, 2023 from complications of a stroke. Née Marie Rose Sylvia and known affectionately as “Sounta,” she was born on October 27th,1942 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Predeceased by her mother Miracia Pascal and sister, Mireille, Sylvia overcame many health challenges throughout her life. For several decades, she delivered care with pride as a Certified Nurse Aide in Brooklyn, NY and Sacramento, CA hospitals. She is survived by 10 siblings and many nephews, nieces, and Godchildren. Her passion for house decorating and nurturing beautiful gardens was evident at her meticulously kept home. She will be missed by family and friends. Special thanks to: John Van Driel and his wife Rochelle, Dwan Wilson and his wife Maria, and neighbors Marietta and Michelle.
