Terry “Red Dog” Erickson (82) passed away at home while surrounded by his loved ones. Terry was born and raised in Smithfield, Utah on a dairy farm. It was on his family’s farm where he gained his strong work ethic and recognition of the importance of an education. After high school, he spent two years living in Germany, serving an LDS mission. He earned his Bachelor's & Master's degrees from Utah State University. He was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity where he held many fond memories and made lifelong friends. After earning his Bachelor's in Secondary education, majoring in Social Studies education, he and his wife, LaDawn Dursteler Erickson, moved to Maui, Hawaii where they both taught in public schools. Terry spent two years teaching at Maui High School where he was a social studies teacher and wrestling coach. After moving back to the Continental U.S., he spent the majority of his career working for San Juan Unified School District teaching Civics and U.S. & World History. Those that knew him knew his passion for golfing, watching sports, political debate, travel, and his love for family & friends. He is survived by his wife (LaDawn), 3 children (Shawn, Melanie, & Chuck), their spouses (Karen, Jordy, & Heather), and his 4 grandchildren (Jace, Jackson, Ethan, & Zoey). In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Democratic National Committee. There will be a celebration of life at a later date where all friends and family are invited.
