Born December 20, 1936 and Died September 12, 2023. He passed away at his home in Sacramento County. Vernon was born in Redwood City, California, to Pastor Cleo & Laura Waters, of Lodi California. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Waters, they were happily married for 48 years. Also by his son, Dave Waters, grandson, Talor Waters, brother, Orin Waters & wife Irma, sister Cheryl Anderson & husband Pastor Gary, and sister-in-law Gris Waters. Preceded by death is his brother, Pastor Lansing Waters. Also, 8 nephews and nieces and 8 great nieces & nephews. Vernon was a life long Christian, and in his family, there are many pastors serving the Lord. His father Pastor Cleo Waters, mother Pastor Laura Waters, brother-in-law Pastor Gary Anderson, Pastor Cheri Anderson, nephew Pastor Marc Anderson, Pastor Coleena Anderson, sister-in-law Pastor Griselda Waters, all Church Ministers for Jesus Christ. Vern himself was also active in the church, primarily organizing and working with 3 of the churches scouting groups, as Commander of The Royal Rangers. He graduated from Lodi Union High School, in Lodi, California. Graduated from Stockton College and then Sacramento State College. He was retired from Los Rios Community Colleges District, where he was in charge of the painting crews for several campuses. He also held an active contractors license in commercial construction painting. After retirement his he was able to spend time enjoying his woodworking also doing stained and etch glass. Some of Vernon’s fondest memories were with his brother-in-law Pastor Gary Anderson, and the many back packing trips they took in the Sierras. He loved telling good fun jokes and always had a smile, with a giving helpful hand to everyone. Vernon was dearly loved by his wife, family and friends and will be greatly missed. Services will be held at 10:00am, September 21, 2023 at Price Funeral Chapel (6335 Sunrise Blvd. Citrus Heights, CA). Presiding Pastors: Pastor Gary Anderson and Pastor Charles Seielstad.
