Cindy, while I feel there truly are no words of comfort, I want to extend my sincere condolences. I can only imagine the heartache and grief you are experiencing. You and Steve were such a huge part of my teenage years. When I think of you both I see your driveway filled with the cars of all of us girls as we hung out, had sleepovers, got ready for dances, races, and fumbled our way through our high school years. Steve took us to our 5k races, never failing to mention how, "when he was a runner..."(as we were all rolling our eyes in the back seat). As time passed and our paths separated, it was such a comfort to see his kind face at Sutter Roseville, the chaplain for some of my toughest calls. He was a wonderful father, not only to his own kids, but to all of us. I am struggling with this great loss and can only imagine what you are going through. You are all loved and in my heart and thoughts.

Cindy,
So many good people cross our paths as we serve the Lord and the country. Steve served both and he was an important part of the Rocklin Stake Public Affairs staff, providing me with much needed guidance and help. Our military careers did not cross, but we shared that proud service and I hope he will be so recognized. Thank you for supporting his numerous efforts to serve others for so long.

I am so so sorry to hear of Steve's passing. He was a man who truly gained my respect, admiration, appreciation and love during our service together in Stake Public Affairs for many months (Rocklin and Roseville Stakes). Our paths have not crossed much in the past several years, but there always has been, and will always be, special feelings in my heart for him. May his family be comforted. So grateful for all the good he did during his mortal sojourn. Looking forward to a future reunion.

I am so sad to hear this. Steve was always so kind to me and came and gave me a blessing in the hospital when I wrecked my car and my dad was out of town. He will be missed. ❤️

We remember the many times we would be in Reno to see a show or at the movies in Roseville/Rocklin, and run into Steve and Cindy. We even ran into them while on vacation in Hawaii. We had many good times together and will miss Steve greatly. Some day we will meet again. Until then we know you'll be about Father's work.
Love,

I met Brother Hehner when I was serving as a missionary in the Lincoln 3rd ward (LDS congregation). Their's was one of my favorite homes to come to. Brother and Sister Hehner were always fun to be around. They would playfully tease each other. You could really tell they loved and knew each other well. Steve would talk to us about his past mission experiences, his business adventures and even about gaming. There was never a dull moment. I could tell from the beginning that he had a great testimony of God and His roll in our lives. When he would speak of the gospel, the spirit would be present. He was an intelligent and educated man, and I respected greatly.
I visited them after I had returned home from the mission. Both Steve and Cindy (Sister Hehner, as I called her) recognized me instantly. They cared about me, even though I was just one of many missionaries that had come and gone through their ward over about 2 years since. I sat and talked with them for a while and they never made me feel like I was intruding on better things they could be doing. I really appreciated the love they showed me.

Cindy, I'm sorry he has left you so soon. I hope you can find peace and comfort during this time. I could tell he loved you deeply. I hope to find what yall have for myself one day. But I know he must be about doing the Lord's work now on the other side. I've always found comfort in D&C 138, especially in verse 57. I remember finding that verse when my grandfather died when I was young. It brought peace to me and I hope it can for you too.

Farewell my brother and fellow patriot. I'll miss you and remember you all the remainder of my days, and so will my family. We look forward to seeing you again someday. Until then, I'm sure that our Father has plenty of work for you to do. So enjoy your adventure, carry on the good work and know you'll always be in our hearts.
To Cindy and family, I share your loss, I share your love of Steve, and I share your hope to someday be reunited with him. Until then, we carry on together and cherish the memories and appreciate the time we had with him.

I am so sorry for your loss. Steve had a very kind heart and was very sweet to my family. One memory I have of him is a recent one. Steve was a huge help in selling my car. It was an emotional time for me as I was getting married and on top of that I was moving to Canada. Words can't describe how much that meant to me. That he took the time too help me, meant a whole lot to me.

Steve was such a great friend and school mate. With his great help and support I was able to graduate from college. We both graduated from UOP together.
He was fun to play video games with and his positive attitude has always reminded me that I can be better and more positive too.
My oldest kids will be reminded of Steve since he was able to help with their baby blessings.
Prayers of support are with your family until you all meet again. I look forward to seeing him again as well.
